Mobile Photo Bill Pay Adoption to Hit 33 Percent by 2018

Thirty-three percent of adult U.S. consumers will have adopted mobile photo bill pay (MPBP) by 2018, resulting in 1.4 billion bills converting to the mobile payment channel, according to a study from the AlixPartners consultancy. The MPBP application lets consumers with camera-outfitted smartphones or tablets snap photos of bill coupons, and the imaging technology extracts pertinent data from the paper bill and auto-populates the fields needed to make a mobile payment.
